No Emotions Attached

I was having a conversation with my colleague yesterday on SMS which ended up in an egoistic manner. The reason behind was eruption of emotions on an unnecessary manner. We, as humans by nature are full of emotions. We like to react on things rather than just respond. We like to assume things and add our own flavor to the conversation which turns out to be a disaster.

Emotions do play a vital role in our relationship building and this incident made me think, why don’t we control our emotions when we know that reacting instantly will harm us? It’s rightly said “Don’t make decision when you’re angry and don’t promise anything when you’re extremely happy.” Most of us let our emotions rule our life. Yes, it is good to follow emotions most of the time but in relationships if you really want to flourish your relationships it is advised that there should be no emotions attached. Now this doesn’t mean that you switch off all your emotions, what I mean to say is don’t go with angry emotions. Whenever you feel angry in your conversation try to relax and brush off that anger.

angryIt is so easy to go with the flow and be angry on things which you don’t agree but it takes guts to listen hard, without uttering a word when you feel like killing the other person. But trust me best is to suppress the rage. Take a deep breath and rather than reacting try to respond. It makes a huge difference when we stop reacting and start responding. When we take a second to allow us to be in the moment and respond then we turn the whole conversation upside down.

These type of conversations happen every single day and most of the time we respond to them emotionally but sometimes this cost us huge payoff. So my point is, from now onwards try to relax and respond, try to keep the conversation healthy, try to be polite, and try not to hurt other person but make sure you deliver your point in a friendly manner.

What is your Elevator Pitch?

Some people take thousands of dollars just to write your resume. When I found out, it really amazed me. As Seth Godin mentioned in The Linchpin ”Resume’s are really naive now.” People now days Google your name get whatever they want. But what will happen if you meet someone in an elevator. It’s not like buying a car that you have time to verify things before you purchase. Even buying it online would take more than the 15 seconds you got in the elevator to make an impact.

What is your Elevator Pitch

What is the story behind your brand?

Apple was the favorite fruit of co-founder Steve Jobs and/or for the time he worked at an apple orchard, and to distance itself from the cold, unapproachable, complicated imagery created by other computer companies at the time – which had names such as IBM, DEC, and Cincom.

Facebook – name stems from the colloquial name of books given to newly enrolled students at the start of the academic year by university administrations in the US with the intention of helping students to get to know each other better.

Microsoft – Coined by Bill Gates to represent the company that was devoted to microcomputer software. Originally christened Micro-Soft, the ‘-‘ disappeared on 3/2/1987 with the introduction of a new corporate identity and logo. The “slash between the ‘o’ and ‘s’ [in the Microsoft logo] emphasizes the “soft” part of the name and conveys motion and speed.

If you are ready to launch your start up then pause for a moment and reflect the name of your brand. Does is convey a story? Is it simple? Is it easy to pronounce? If not, then you will fail big time. You might want to know the point of naming my brand like this is. Answer is, because your future will depend on that name.

What is your brand story?

It is often said that your talent is gift from GOD and what you do with your talent is your gift to GOD. That is exactly what Special Olympics team Pakistan did when they won 51 medals in Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games held in Australia.

Saving Future – Educate girls; Prosper Pakistan

Saving Future Girls School in Pakistan logoEducation is not freely available to every one – and in many parts of our country girls are the first one to be excluded from it. When it comes to gender equality in education, countries across the world are making significant advances. Girls are less likely to access schools especially in rural areas.

Education by far is the single most powerful way to lift people out of poverty. Basic education provides girls with an understanding of basic health, nutrition and family planning, giving them choices and the power to decide over their own lives and bodies.

It is said that be a candle if not the Sun. And that is exactly what Aliza Brohi founder of Saving Future did. Her dream started in a servant quarter by teaching 2 girls on her own. With not much of resources I took furniture from my living room and bought books for the girls myself. It was difficult in the start but my family supported me throughout which helped me to move on, Aliza quoted.

3 Seconds That Will Guarantee Your Success

I was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At that time there was no kindergarden or nursery so my basic education was from my parents. Still remember my mother yelling at me to sit and study properly. I was the naughty one you know; kid that keeps on experimenting on new things and because of this I have experienced every slap from my mom :) (which is also a blessing). Anyways alongwith many other sweet memories from the past this one particular line from my father served me my whole life.

He use to say “Son, if you start something well then it will automatically finish well.”

I use to complain to my father that I have tried my best on this thing but it didn’t work. No Son, you didn’t start your work with “Bismillah” I say ph yes I forgot it and this childhood habit made all the difference in my life. I’ve noticed that it takes 3 seconds to recite “Bismillah” but whenever I start something with “Bismillah” it works out really well.

Why I remain Online 24/7?

You post too much, why are you online all the time, and why do you help people too much… these were some of the questions which were bombarded to me from past few days so I thought why not write a blog on it. Here goes the reasons why I remain online 24/7:

To Help Others

Some work for money, some work for fame but some really work to make this world a better place. Money and fame never ever fascinated me but yes what makes me feel alive is helping people. Every time I am offline I miss a chance to help someone which makes me uncomfortable. Helping others with their professional and personal issues gives me so much satisfaction that is why I remain online 24/7 so people can ask for help and I can offer them help then and there.
To Guide Others

Easiest way to walk a path is to ask someone for directions who have been there. My previous job taught me various things through which I can guide my friends in any of the below mentioned field:

  • Logo / website designing
  • Facebook page management.
  • How to use Google Analytics to target your customers?
  • How to reach your audience using Google Adwords?
  • Increase your ranking in Google search engine result pages (also known as SERP’s)
  • How to boost sales by using social media?

Alhumdulilaah now I can fully guide my friends by staying online 24/7.

Super Fast Customer Service by Telenor Pakistan

I was trying to send a very important message to my colleague but was unable to do so because of some technical issue which Telenor Pakistan was facing at that time. Out of frustration I tweeted it to find if anyone else is having the same issue. One of my followers suggested tweeting directly to @telenorpakistan and they might follow up. So I tweeted, out of the blue I got a reply from @telenorpakistan that kindly provide us your info so we can update you further regarding your issue. I emailed my info and surely after a minute my service was back on.

Lastly I checked I received the same customer service from Google when I faced a problem with one of my campaigns in Adwords account. I contacted them via live chat and the person glued with me for an hour until problem was resolved. I wished that co-operations in Pakistan harness the power of social media to get in touch with their customers and I am proud to see that Telenor Pakistan is successfully doing it.

7 Things to do when stuck in the CNG Queue

Are you from Pakistan? If yes, then this blog is for you. One day consists of 24 hours, 24 hours consists of 60 minutes and if you are from Pakistan you have the honor to spend 1 hour daily at a CNG. They say time is money so why not utilize this time and use it well. I wrote this blog while I was waiting in a CNG queue. It’s a small list of things which I think we all can do easily while waiting in a CNG queue:

1) Count your blessings: We spend do much of our time in complaining on all the things that are not right in our lives but we rarely take out some time to appreciate the beauty around us. Just written a list few days back Count your blessings not worries.

2) Read / Listen a book: Reading is growing… If you are not reading you are not growing. Keep a book with you all the time and do read it when you get some extra time. Audio books are easily available in mp3 format. Download your favorite books and listen when stuck in a CNG queue.

3) Eat something: Buy something you love and enjoy it bite by bite. This will surely uplift your mood. Try it, it works all the time.

10 tips for CV writing that will get you Hired

Write clear and short objective. Don’t write an encyclopedia of your achievements. Just give 2-3 lines on how you are planning to add value to the company or how excited you are to grow with the company.

2) Be relevant

If you are applying for marketing job for GOD sake don’t list 3 pages of your designing experience and then half a page of your marketing expertise. Time is money and in business if you are not relevant you will be kicked out right from the door.

3) Double check your spellings

First impression is the last impression. In school they deduct your marks if your spelling is wrong but in business they drop your CV. Make sure spelling feature is enabled in your Word pressing program.

4) Keep it short

Don’t overdo your CV. Keep it short. No need to write paragraphs of your expertise just lists it down in bullet points. That will be enough.
